When the x1003 has the m2 connected no led is turned on. Only after I connect the PSU it blink a led from the m2 (not the x1003). If I disconnect the m2 and connect the PSU I can see 2 blue leds of the board. Then what is happening here? no led from the board means no power? I can't get the m2 recognized in the rpi5. I have ordered a box of m2.5 standoffs and some m2.5*4+6, lets see how it works out. I also figured that if you flip the Pimoroni base over, you can mount it as a hat with the right standoffs. Then you can use the Geekworm P579 case as well. That might be a better option to keep all the parts cool, as the NVMe won't be squeezed up close to the Pi5 board. Thanks for your help Lisa.)

Used the rpi-clone fork from Jeff Geerling to copy a fresh Bookworm install onto the SSD. 740 MB/s write and 780 MB/s read for a 1GB file in 10 blocks of 100MB each. With PCIe3 enabled tho)

It is, but what is not supplied or offered is a short cable to connect to the Pi5 board. And yes, my Pi5 is working great with the X1001 and a 1TB 2280 SDD. The dtparam=pciex1_gen=3 has been set and the microSD has been removed. So I don't really need the extra power connector, but it should have been included anyways just to be on the safe side.)

It behaves as though the drive has being disconnected, but the blue light is still on when this happens. I have re-seated the FCC cable on both ends a few times. It seems to be seated fully and securely. Also, the drive is typically recognized (at least momentarily)...)

It worked fine even with PCIe 3. The Rocket 4 has a Phison controller. I wanted a suitable case so bought the X1001 and one of the Geekworm cases. The Rocket 4 works fine on the X1001. My Pi5 has firmware 2024-02-16T15:28:41 Maybe newer Pi firmware has fixed the Phison controller issues. It would help if this WiKi said what issues have been experienced with the Phison controller.)

Key is you need to run rpi-eeprom-update -a and if you're running ubuntu you need to flash a sd drive with raspberry pi os and do the rpi-eeprom-update because ubuntu has not pushed the latest eeprom files. Once you do that you will be able to copy your ubuntu os or whatever you want. Works great.)
