X715

Overview

The X715 is the updated version from X710. The X715 is sold out (or you can find some remaining stock from the Amazon site) and will no longer be produced, so if you still need it, consider replacing it with the X735, which has the same features as the X715.

Some new features of X715(Updated on May 25th 2021)

  • With more wide range voltage input from 6V to 60V;
  • With 4-Pin PWR port to use external latching power switch, only supports latching switch, DON'T support Momentary switch
  • Supports 3 kind power in connectors: DC 55*21 Jack, terminals and XH2.54;
  • Supports 2 kind 5V power out connectors: XH2.54 and terminals;
  • Use the silent PWM cooling fan, and support fan speed is control by script, support read fan speed, and we provide sample python code.
  • Remove safe shutdown function of X710;

The X715 is a power management expansion board for all current models of the Raspberry Pi using a 40-pin header. It provides Max 5A of continuous output current over a wide 6V to 60V operating input range with excellent load and line regulation and a low noise PWM cooling fan which enables the use of the Raspberry Pi in extreme conditions including very high temperature environments. The X710 also reserves the 40-pin header that can be stacked with other Raspberry Pi accessory boards for enhanced applications.

Would you give more details on how to use an X715 with an X728? What versions of the boards are compatible?

Thank you

Hello,The X728 can support the X715. Mount the X728 on top of the X715;need a 2*20 Pin Female Header to increase the height, and need spacers of the appropriate height to hold the X715 in place.

Can I combine this with x708UPS hat? Are there any special precautions I would need to make?

Can you please provide example for how to use X715 together with X728 (UPS) to achieve 6~60V wide voltage input.

I see two options: 1. Stack Raspberry, X715 & X728. - Power in to X715. X715 will power Raspberry directly. - Power cable from X715 to X728. For X728 to charge batteries. 2. Stack Raspberry & X728. X715 separate. - Power in to X715. Fan function not usable as it is not stacked on Raspberry. - Power cable from X715 to X728. X728 charge batteries and provide power to Raspberry. - X715 is just used as Buck Converter (6V-60V to 5V).

Thanks

If I want to use this with the X728, which ports do I use? Do I have plug the 5v output of the X715 into the 5v input of the X728? Do I still stack the hats on the RPI?

I tried this and it works, however when I do this the X728 doesn't recognize when power is disconnected from the X715. If I don't include the X715 in the stack of hats, it does recognize when the X715 is unplugged.

Hello, although X728 can be used together with X715, but it needs to be reminded that if it is not operated properly, it may cause damage. When X728 and X715 are used together, it can only be powered by 2PIN line, not by GPIO. If possible, please provide your order number. If possible, you can provide some pictures (about your question), preferably a video, and send it to our email. Please contact us at support@geekworm.com. We will try our best to help you solve the problem .)
