I am planning to use a high quality linear power supply with the NASPi Gemini 2.5 V2.0 Dual 2.5 Inch SATA HDD/SSD NAS Storage Kit with DC 6-18V Wide Voltage Input
The power supply can provide 12, 15 or 16V / 3A.
I am using a RPi 4 and just a single 8TB Samsung 870 QVO SSD (according to spec, it needs 3.3 Watt max.)
Will that very linear power supply be sufficient for the NASPi Gemini 2.5 V2.0?
If so, would it also be sufficient, If I add a second SSD and use Raid mode?
Hi, X822 we don't sell it anymore, there is not enough space inside the Naspi Gemini 2.5 case to fit the UPS HAT, about the UPS board for Raspberry Pi 4, you can refer to the x703X728X708X729
Hello, it’s not possible. This is designed for Raspberry Pi 4B. Please follow us. After Raspberry Pi 5 is released, we have plans to upgrade the product in the future.
Hello, the LED behind the power button currently cannot be turned off. You can try other physical methods to reduce its brightness. For example, you can use black tape (or some other dark-colored objects) to cover the LED light.
Switch to PM mode, and the two hard disks run independently, so that two hard disks can be recognized. If you select the RAID0/RAID1 mode., only one hard disk can be recognized. Please refer to here for specific operations:
I've got disk failure in RAID1 and I know which disk to replace. Do I have to do something else except of replacing failed disk or the RAID1 will restore itself automatically?
How exactly does the power button work? It seems that gpio pin 4 does not immediately correspond to button presses (edge raising & falling) as it seems to be buffered to facilitate the long press hard shutdown? Is there maybe a schema how the power button, pin 4 and the power led work together?
Is it possible to use the Naspi Gemini without a fan, e.g., with a passive heatsink connected to the casing? My Pi doesn't take big loads and was running fine in a passively cooled enclosure with external HD.
If that's not an option, are there any more quiet fans than the included one?
Hello, the built-in fan of NASPi Gemini is a PWM 4010 fan. If you find it noisy, you can lower the fan speed. Of course, you can also buy a fan with better quietness. Of course, if you don’t want to install a fan, you can You can use a heat sink with strong heat dissipation, but pay attention to the height between the Raspberry Pi and the shell,
Please provide more information or RAID operation. For example, what to do when in Raid 1 and one drive fails. How to replace the failed disk. Will the content on the good disk be automatically copied to the new disk? Such information is crucial!
I have 2 HDD drives and my RPi boots from one of them. If I want to use Drive Spanning must the drives be empty? I have some folders with data files configured on both drives. Can I switch to Spanning and retain the data on both drives? How are the folders managed? What if folder names are duplicated?
OLED port question - so X882 have some firmware which will show something in this OLED in case if I just put 0.96 inch OLED Shield into this port? What info x882 will show in this OLED?
What's the largest hard drives supported by this NAS system (1 TB, 2TB, 4TB)? I want to buy two 4TB and have them in RAID 1 with a NextCloud or OpenCloud running on the system.
You can use 4TB HDD,and NASPi Gemini support Max 16mm thickness 2.5" HDD/SSD; The thickness of 2.5" HDD/SSD on the market is generally 7mm, 9.5mm, 12.5 and 15mm,so you can choose the SSD/HDD according to your requirement.
Raid 1 performance: both hard drives have the same data;
One hard disk is the direct visible hard disk capacity, and the other hard disk is equivalent to the mirror hard disk. The data is written at the same time. When the visible hard disk is damaged, the mirror hard disk will automatically restore the complete data to the hard disk.
About software operation, you can get more information on google.
