Important Notes

  • The X1008 is designed for data storage purposes and does not currently support booting from HDD/SSD with the existing firmware.
  • Please use DC 12V power adapter to power both X1008 and Pi 5 via DC5521 Jack, no need to power Pi 5 additionally (please note that 3.5" hard disk requires 12V), recommend Geekworm DC 5521 12V 5A Power supply
  • Older SATA drives with less efficient flash media may not perform as well as newer drives
  • New SATA HDDs/SSDs are not partitioned and will need to be both partitioned and formatted when first connected to the Raspberry Pi before they will be accessed in the Explorer.

Overview

X1008 PCIe to 2 ports SATA HDD expansion board, designed to provide a mass-capacity storage and high-speed storage solution for your Raspberry Pi 5. This board facilitates the simultaneous connection of a 3.5-inch HDD and a 2.5-inch HDD/SSD, unleashing the full potential of your storage capabilities, with SATA 3.0 interface speeds reaching up to 5Gbps.

With support for 12V input via a standard DC jack and equipped with high-efficiency DC/DC step-down converters, the X1008 efficiently powers both your Raspberry Pi5 and HDDs from a single power source, simplifying your setup.

The X1008 serves as the perfect storage solution for establishing a home media center or constructing a network-attached storage (NAS) system. It empowers you to store and stream your personal collection of videos, music, and digital photos within the confines of your home or remotely from anywhere around the globe.

Is there an option to power this (Rpi, board and 3.5 HDD) via PoE to get rid of an additional power supply?

Hi,sorry, there are no plans to produce an matching case yet, you can DIY a 3D case based on the size of the board.
