Overview

The X1300 HDMI to CSI-2 bridge with I2S audio interface has been specifically designed for the Raspberry Pi 5. It features the Toshiba TC358743XBG bridge chip, supporting HDMI input up to 1080P at a refresh rate of 60 fps.

PS:

If you need the same kind of product used on the Raspberry Pi 4, please refer to the X630

Geekworm HDMI to CSI Module Series:

Convert HDMI signal acquisition into CSI signal and I2S audio signal. The maximum capture resolution depends on the HDMI to CSI converter board as well as the Raspberry Pi hardware.

Raspberry Pi hardware are primarily divided into two series, one supporting a maximum of 1080P60Hz and the other supporting a maximum of 1080P50Hz.

  • Raspberry Pi versions that support up to 1080P60Hz: CM3, CM4, Pi 5B
  • Raspberry Pi versions that support up to 1080P50Hz: zero, zero2, Pi3B, Pi4B, etc.

  • work with X1300 HDMI to CSI-2 for Raspberry Pi 5B, CM4 IO board
  • work with X630 HDMI to CSI-2 for Raspberry Pi 4B, 3B+ and 3B

Features

  • Compatible With : Raspberry Pi 5B Only (NOT Raspberry Pi 4 and Pi 3) / Raspberry Pi Compute Module 4 IO board
  • Capable of handling video formats up to 2K Full HD (1920x1080, 60fps).
  • Equipped with the HDMI to CSI-2 bridge chip: Toshiba TC358743XBG
  • Supports MIPI CSI-2 with 4 data lanes, each with speeds of up to 1 Gbps per lane
  • Enables HDMI audio input and transmission over I²S - (Note: To capture HDMI audio via I2S, additional wiring or the X1300-A2 accessory board is necessary.)
  • Prevents HDMI backpowering to the Raspberry Pi CSI
  • Features a CSI-2 connector: 22-pin FPC with 0.5mm pitch
  • Boasts an ultra-compact design: 30 x 37.5 mm (PCB size)
  • Easily mountable on the Raspberry Pi 5, allowing you to customize your perfect case

Applications

Here are some applications of HDMI to CSI (Camera Serial Interface) conversion:

1. Digital Media Adapters: HDMI to CSI adapters allow HDMI cameras to be used just like standard Raspberry Pi CSI cameras. This is useful for digital media adapters that need to process HDMI input.

2. Smart Monitors: Smart monitors can benefit from HDMI to CSI conversion, enabling them to accept HDMI video streams and integrate them into their display systems.

3. Set-Top Boxes (STBs): STBs often require video input from various sources. HDMI to CSI conversion allows STBs to handle HDMI signals efficiently.

4. Smart TVs: Some smart TVs may need to process HDMI input for features like picture-in-picture or video conferencing. HDMI to CSI bridges facilitate this integration.

5. Entertainment Screens: Whether it's for gaming consoles, streaming devices, or other entertainment systems, HDMI to CSI conversion ensures compatibility with HDMI sources.

6. KVM over IP: IP-KVM (Keyboard, Video, Mouse over IP) solutions using a Raspberry Pi, This bridge allows you to capture full HD video with low latency and supports H.264 video encoding of your desktop.

Remember that HDMI to CSI adapters are particularly useful when interfacing HDMI cameras with Raspberry Pi boards. They provide a seamless way to incorporate HDMI video streams into various applications.

Is there any reason this X1300 set cannot also be used with a rpi4 if I used a 22-pin 0.5 pitch to 15-pin 1.0 pitch FFC cable? I understand that the fewer CSI lanes means 1080p50 rather than 1080p60, but the X1300 and X630 use the same toshiba hdmi chip.

You are right. If you replace the FPC, you can also use the X1300 on the RPi4
