Overview

The new member of the Raspberry Pi storage expansion board family - X822 (Dual 2.5" SATA HDD/SSD Shield ) is coming.

  • Specially-made USB3.0 jumper to connect with Raspberry Pi - no additional cables needed
  • LED blue indicator indicates drive status

[NOTE]

  • USB3.1 Gen 1 port, SSD sequential write speed >300MB/s
  • 2.5" SATA HDD/SSD not included
  • As with all SSDs, new media must be formatted before use
  • Performance depends on host system, workload, and SSD media used
  • SSDs use exceptionally high performance storage media that will run hot when under load
  • Older SSD drives with less efficient flash media may not perform as well as newer drives

Why is the pi4 not supported? I have it running on my pi4 on usb2, but usb3 does not work. Is there a user side modification available that would make it work on usb3?

Sorry, the X822 is designed for Raspberry Pi 3, not tested on Pi 4, for pi 4 use, please refer to X828:https://geek...d-ssd-shield

Hi, is this board stackable like the X828? And is it mandatory to install 2 drives per x822 board?

Is there another way to power the x822 and raspberry from the same source, without using the 40 pin header (it's already occupied by another Hat)? Like over the USB3.0 or 2.0 ports?

Hello friend,

Sorry, the X822 is not stackable, please use X828, X828 also support Raspberry Pi 3, but no metal case for Pi 3.

is this board compatible with the raspberry pi 4b, i know plugs don't line up, have different idea, will use cable to attach instead of usb connector block, just wondering compatability

Hello, The X822 support 2 pcs 2.5 inch SATA hard drives, and the RAID 1 drives depends on the software not on hardware, hope to get your understanding!

google mdadm, this is a raid software for linux, works on raspberry pie, allows raid 0 thru raid 5, many examples are given on setup, raspberry pi raid server examples are out on google search too

do one usb provide the data of both hdd or us1 is for hdd1 and usb2 is for usb2?

Hello sir, There is a USB HUB chip on the X822 board, so it is only need to connect one usb bridge or USB cable to provide the data of both hdd.
