Overview

Please refer to here for previous X830 V1.1;(Out of stock)

We are very happy to released the newest X830 V2.0 3.5" SATA HDD expansion board before the 2019 Chinese New Year holiday. The new V2.0 version has some important updation & improvements based on customer feedback, the most important of them are as following: Added safe shutdown function, supports USB booting from your HDD, the power supply is used with commonly DC 12V power supply; add on-board screw holes for large-capacity hard disk and so on.

For the X830 matching metal case, we also made some optimization:

  • 1/ Used a more powerful and bigger fan, at the same time, it is mute when working and looks nice;
  • 2/ For the installation of the 4PIN adapter board, we have to increase the height of the box by about 10mm;

Attention:

The X830 V2.0 board uses the more commonly used DC 12V 2A power adapter, other voltage input is not recommended and it will cause some unexpected damage to the HDD,X830 board, and raspberry pi.BE CAREFUL!

Note:This X830 V2.0 board also can be used with ROCK64 board, but do not support safe shutdown function on ROCK64 board.

For some other features, you can still refer to the X830 V1.1 version of WIKI.

What do you need to use the newest X830 V2.0 version expansion board?

  1. A Raspberry Pi board(Pi 3B+, 3B, 2B, B+)
  2. A 12V DC, 3A Power Supply
  3. A 3.5 inch SATA hard disk drive(HDD)
  4. A X830 match Metal Case (optional)

Updated Features (New X830 V2.0)

  • Support safe shutdown function only for Raspberry Pi(please refer to the following or github for installation script);
  • Use the more commonly used DC 12V power adapter;
  • Added screw hole position for large capacity hard disk (feedback from customer);
  • Using a new driver chip, support for installing the system and booting on the hard disk
  • Remove the jumper cap in V1.1 version;

Packing List

  • 1 x X830 V2.0 board
  • 1 x USB connector
  • 1 x 4Pin cable with adapter
  • 1 x USB 3.0 cable(about 60cm)
  • 1 x installation screw pack

Power Supply(Optional)

X830 V2.0 requires DC 12V 3A power adapter, please DON'T use a power adapter of other voltage values, otherwise it may damage your hard disk and motherboard; this is very important!!!

Hello !

I installed a Raspberry Pi 3B + in an X830 V2.0 Metal Case. The fan does not rotate during operation. Is this normal? is there a temperature regulation?

Thank you in advance !

Hi, i bought X830 shield for my Pi 3B and i use a recommended with 12V and 3A. But when i power the pi over the shield and start it it will not boot. When i use the usb power from the pi while the hdd is already powered everything ist working fine. So my guess is that the pi is booting earlier than the hdd is powering on so it will not recognised by the pi as boot medium. What can i do?

thanks!

Hello, I've just buyed a shield X830 V2.0 and I would like to control the power with an external switch. I didn't buy the case that it is provided with all the component like switch and so on. So I would like to control the power with a my own switch connected to the PCB via "PWR switch" connector. But, I've mesured the volts and it seems that the serigraphy does not correspond to the expected signal. It seems that works opposite. Could you so kind to give me the connection diagram of the switch and the corresponding LED?

Thank you in advance

I want to use this on a boat, and the voltage range can go as high as 14 volts. Do I need to use an external regulator to keep the voltage at exactly 12v?

I purchased the X300 v2.0. However, the size of the CASE differs from the data published by your company. Your material is 162x121x70 and the actual size is 162x121x80. Which one is right. Is the product sent incorrectly or is your data data wrong?

For your reference, I received your X830 V2.0 product on July 5, 2019.

Hello sir, What do you mean by old case? The X830 case has been updated to be suitable for both new X830 V2.0 version and X830 V1.1 version. Do you have any new suggestions with update? Best regards,

Hello X830 Team,

I noticed that the fan speed varies over time. Considering it's only a 2 wire connection I assume the board is controlling the voltage. Is there a way to access the programming for some/any fan control? Ideally I'd like to run the fan as slowly/quietly as possible. If not I guess I can figure out a way for the pi to control the fan. Thanks for your time.
