FAQ

Q: X1002 can't boot when install into the P580 case?

A: Please check if the FPC cable touch the metal case make shorting when install X1002 into the metal case, you can stick the electrical tape on the case to prevent the ribbon FPC cable from contacting the case to test. We have considered extending the metal case, but it may cause other issues, so we will maintain the current design. If such an issue occurs, users will need to use electrical tape to fix it. Thank you for your understanding!

Q: Does the P580 case support the pimoroni base nvme shield and 3rd party pcie bottom hats?

A: The spacers for the pimoroni base nvme shield are M2.5x7 F/F ,we recommend changing M2.5x7 F/F to M2.5x6 F/F (included in the P580 packing list), and you need to prepare 4pcs M2.5*4+4 or M2.5*4+5 F/M standoffs to supplement the bottom height. You can also refer to the P580 case size chart below to check whether your PCIe board supports P580

Hi, I see both cases support the Pimoroni base. Would your cases work with Pimoroni Duo base? Thanks!

Hello,We haven't tested it yet, but if the Pimoroni Duo base has the same dimensions and mounting hole positions as the Pimoroni base, it should work with the P580 case.

Hi,Sorry,we have not tested POE HAT yet, you can refer to the size of P580--height: 35.8mm, pi5+X1002 height : 11.6mm;

Thanks. Found a thread on Reddit, a user managed to fit POE HAT with GPIO pins clipped.

Right, that seems logical. I just hope there is enough clearance between my ssd and the Pi. I have ordered a box of m2.5 standoffs and some m2.5*4+6, lets see how it works out.

I also figured that if you flip the Pimoroni base over, you can mount it as a hat with the right standoffs. Then you can use the Geekworm P579 case as well. That might be a better option to keep all the parts cool, as the NVMe won't be squeezed up close to the Pi5 board.

Thanks for your help Lisa.

Will this case work with the Pimoroni NVMe hat as well? I do not have the X1002 hat as it is hard to get in India. So, I got the Pimoroni bottom hat and now I'm looking for a case that'll fit.

Hello

Refer to the P580 case size chart below to check whether your PCIe board supports P580:

I see, thanks. The pimoroni hat has its ssd in between the hat and pi5, and their clearance is 7mm. There still might be a way to make it fit, but I am not sure I have the exact mounting hardware. Thanks Harry.

It is recommended to replace the pimoroni spacers with M2.5*6mm (included in the P580 packing list); and you need to prepare 4pcs M2.5*4+4 or M2.5*4+5 spacers to fix the bottom.

My wifi no longer works once the raspberry pi & X1002 are installed in the case. Do you have recommendations on how to resolve this?

Hi,Sorry, we don't have a better solution. It is recommended that you use a network cable instead of wifi.

Been trying to buy the P580 and X1002 on Amazon. There is none of them in Amazon Sweden.

Could instead buy the P579 (available on Amazon Sweden) but X1001 is not available.

Hi,We have sent X1001 to the Amazon warehouse, but it may take some time for the warehouse to receive it. If you want to buy the X1002+P580; you can purchase this kit here.https://www....2304169.html

Purchased the X1002 NVMe bottom board shield and the compatible P580 case. The case is okay, but there is no button for the RPi5's on off button, just a cutaway on the case. This means that I will have to insert an object into the cutaway to reach to button, which is a few mm back from the outside wall of the case. Geekworm, a simple button would make the case a lot nicer. Other than that, no complaints.

Thank you for your feedback. It may be that the plastic case is the final case and we will consider designing & manufacturing a plastic case as well!

Amazon carrying P579 for HatDrive Top mount. No P580 offering on Amazon. Ordering X1002 would have liked to get the P580 as well. 10-18 days shipping from geekworm.com - unfavorable. Too much time passing means crushed or mangled product on delivery, if no delay.

Amazing similarity between this and very recently assemblage of Orange Pi 5+, with Active Heatsink and, Case. It's case ID is N580.

Assembly of this case with X1002 NVMe Board will be a relief, from that struggle.

What NVMe heatsink height will fit in this case?

The distance between the X1002 and the bottom of the enclosure is 6mm, so it is recommended that you choose an NVMe cooler that is smaller than 6mm.
