Overview

This PCIe to 10-port USB 3.0 + USB 2.0 expansion board is specifically designed for the Raspberry Pi 5, offering a convenient plug-and-play solution without the need for additional drivers. It enhances the capabilities of your Pi by adding four USB 3.2 Gen1 ports and six USB 2.0 ports. Equipped with high-performance chips, this board ensures reliable and fast connections, compatible with various operating systems such as Raspberry Pi OS, Ubuntu, and OpenWRT. This expansion board is ideal for enhancing both the connectivity and performance of your Raspberry Pi.

The X1013 connects directly to the underside of the Raspberry Pi 5, eliminating the need for a GPIO passthrough. This allows you to use your favorite HATs while simultaneously utilizing the features of this expansion board. Additionally, with support for 9-18V input via a standard DC jack and high-efficiency DC/DC step-down converters, the X1013 efficiently powers both your Raspberry Pi 5 and USB devices from a single power source, streamlining your setup.

Technical Specification

Power supply :

  • 9-18Vdc power via 5521 DC jack of X1013, converted to 5.1V to power the Pi and USB devices

Ports & Connectors:

  • PCIe connector - 16-pin pitch0.5mm
  • USB3.0 port x4
  • USB2.0 port x6

How to Power

X1013 supports two power supply methods:

  • One is to power through the USB-C of Raspberry Pi 5, a PD27W USB-C power adapter is required
  • The other is to power through the DC5521 Jack of X1013, a 9V-18V DC 5521 Jack power adapter is required.

How to choose the power adapter:

  • This depends on the number of USB peripherals and the load of X1013.
  • If you have a large number of USB peripherals or a heavy load, you need to power it through the DC5521 Jack, otherwise you can use your PD27W USB-C power adapter to power it.
  • No matter which power supply method is used, the onboard switch can work normally.
  • If you need to power through the DC5521 Jack, you can choose a power adapter with a working voltage of 9V-18V. The lower the voltage, the greater the working current required. Please DO NOT use power adapters suitable for LED strips. Geekworm DC5521 12V 5A power adapter is highly recommended.

FAQ

Q1: Do I need to power the Pi 5 and X1003 separately?

A: No, a single power adapter is sufficient, and whether you use the USB-C or DC5521 power adapter, the Pi 5 and X1013 power each other via pogo pins.
