Overview

This Raspberry Pi 3 Armor Case is made of aluminum alloy with CNC machining manufacturing technology and good heat dissipation. There are two versions available: armor case with dual fan; armor case withoutfan.

Note: This case is only fit to Raspberry pi 3 model b+ / 3b / 2b / b+, not fit to Raspberry Pi 4 Model B

Please refer to Armor Case B if you want armor case for Raspberry Pi 4 Model B

I bought the armor case from Geekworm official store. After I received the Pi4 and the case, when assembled using the provided thermal pads I put a flashlight from the side of the case to check if the case is touching the thermal pads. BIG FAIL!

The thermal pads are too thin and the case does not touch the pads to transfer the heat as it is supposed to. The is about 0.5mm air gap from the case to the pads, both the main CPU and the DDR memory chip.

The easiest way to check the fialing design is if you put a light from the side and view from the other side to see the big gap between the pad and the case. You can contact me at jagheadg@aim.com for more details.

I expect the design team to fix this flaw and send me the matching heat pads to fill the gap.

Hi, 1) I would like to have some possibility to mount this vertically onto a shelf. The backside should have some holes (two keyhole slots were great!!). 2) The space for a GPIO Interface cable should be more sufficient.

Hello! I just received Your case - it is great! My Pi 2B+ temperature dropped from 75C to 46C BUT I had to use huge layer of Silver Thermal Paste to make contact between CPU without metal cover and the case.

This so-called "Thermal Tape" of yours was marked with a 9448A identifier. I googled it and it turned out it is an acrylic double-sided adhesive tape by 3M with no thermal-conductive properties mentioned in the official specifications. All in all it is more of an thermal isolator...

So what the F-word?!

Looks very cool (ha)! I'd worry about those mounting screws though, I only got 1 or at most 2 turns of thread engagement before it bottomed out, and they look and feel pretty fragile. I'm sure some people will strip these threads.

Just got mine- FWIW there are two thicknesses on the pale blue thermal pads, one is 0.78 mm and the other three are 1.25 mm thick. That includes the thickness of the backing paper, which is 0.15 mm just by itself.

Hi! I moved the heatsink from a Pi2 to a Pi3B+ and the pads got disintegrated. May you point the thickness I need on which chip? ASAIK none on the SoC... but the others? Thanks.

Hi, I just tested, big one: 1.39mm big one: 0.93mm middle one: 1.39mm small one: 1.39mm

There are 4 pcs, but three of them with same thickness of 1.39mm, one of the big one is about 0.93mm. Best regards,

For 3B+, you need to use 3 pcs of the thermal pads. Please refer to the wiki page above photos!

Sending mine back to Amazon. Went to screw the two halves together and the bolts threaded instantly. There is insufficient contact/overlap between the thread in each hole and the tip of the bolt, so the bolt just goes round and round after tearing the top of the thread out of the aluminium. Great looks let down by poor design and manufacturing.
