Finally I found out that there was a soldering error. The board could not work and it was not due to the SSD. Check whether the components on the circuit board may not be in the correct position. That might be the reason. In this case, the board must be replaced.)

I have a X1002 V1.1, latest RPI 5 firmware and a WD Blue SN580. The SSD is recognised and works at first, but behaves unstable under high load. Thus, I do not recommend WD Blue 580, but I have good experience with Kioxia Exceria G2.)

I thought the board design would always be running the pi5 from battery voltage. This would be a simple "dual conversion" setup. This didn't make any difference; the charging continued despite driving GPIO16 high and despite the CHG LED being off. The board seems to work well aside from not turning the charging off when GPIO16 is driven high.)

I have tried with the pin set as input with both "pull up" and "pull down", and with the pin set as output and driving it high vs low. Pulled high or driven high, the CHG LED stops blinking, but ... battery volts continue increasing until ~4.15V. Overall, I'm not sure if turning the charger on and off to zig-zag near a lower voltage is a...)
