When i plug x829:upport -> with Usb3cable -> pi4:usb2 port, hdd is visible and detected. I have such (good) picture:
pi@raspberrypi:~ $ sudo lsusb
Bus 002 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0003 Linux Foundation 3.0 root hub
Bus 001 Device 008: ID 174c:0829 ASMedia Technology Inc.
Bus 001 Device 007: ID 174c:0829 ASMedia Technology Inc.
Bus 001 Device 006: ID 05e3:0610 Genesys Logic, Inc. 4-port hub
Bus 001 Device 002: ID 2109:3431 VIA Labs, Inc. Hub
Bus 001 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0002 Linux Foundation 2.0 root hub
When i plug x829:upport -> width Usb3cable -> pi4:USB3 port then hdd is not detected, and picture is bad.
pi@raspberrypi:~ $ sudo lsusb

Is it possible to use with X873 with usb cables instead and use to boot OS? Not worried about case, will make custom one. Just want to have faster applications and have hard drive just for storage.
Hello is it possible to use this board with the raspberry pi 400 keyboard? Power over 40pin, USB cable and power all together over DC in from the board?
USB 3.0 devices might generate radio frequency interference that can cause Wi-Fi and other wireless devices operating in the 2.4GHz band to have issues communicating with your Raspberry Pi4. To avoid interference on the 2.4GHz band using Wi-Fi, try using the 5GHz band instead. If problem still exists, please turn off WiFi and use the wired network instead.
The Picture of Packing list on this side need an Update... The USB Connection ist not longer a PCB with 2 USB Plugs, it was replaced by a Cable... Thats why it works with a Raspi 3 too... But with limited speed...
Hello,There is no limit to the capacity, but please note that there are requirements for the thickness of the hard disk, please refer to the fourth picture above
Hello,TIn theory it is possible. But the power requirements are stricter. cause if you supply power to two hard drives and two Raspberry Pis, more current is required.
I bought Order GEEKWORM-21-4685 consisting of Raspberry Pi 4 Model B+X829 Dual 2.5" SATA HDD/SSD Shield+Metal Case+X735 Power Management Board+DC 5V 4A Power Supply Kit × 1, Kit-2.
Shipment arrived fast and all parts fit nicely in the metal case.
I have however 2 questions:
1) I cannot get the RPI to boot from X829 when connected to USB3 port using the male/male USB cable provided in the set. If I use a USB2 port or add a cable extensor, then it will boot correctly. I'm using Ubuntu Server (or Desktop) 2.10. Is this a known issue? any eeprom settings I need to configure?
2) The X735 Power Management is not recognizing a system Shutdown (i.e. sudo shutdown) can keeps the case with power eventhough the system is not running anymore. Is this a known issue? any settings I need to configure?
Besides that, everything else seems to be working fine.
Hi Geekworm, no hints? I've playing with the Raspberry Pi 4 bootloader configuration. When USB_MSD_PWR_OFF_TIME is disabled (set to 0) the RPI does boot from the USB3 port, but energy saving option (disk goes off when inactive) is also disabled. Help please!
I have bought a complete set containing the X829 and the UPS_U100_V12 on AliExpress in stead of the X708. The UPS_U100_V12 however does not fit on the raspberry pi because the spacers delivered with it are too long! Is it compatible anyway?
I use X829, X735 and Pi4. It has SSD 128GB and 2.5" 4TB HDD, and I connect 5V 5A SMPS power adapter to X735. When I copy large size file to 4TB HDD, Pi intermittently hang and no response, I have to do hard reset. Other experts suggestion is that maybe this problem is from insufficient power.
Can I use another power supply to connect X829 and disconnect power connector between X829 and X735, is it no problem?
I connected an SSD in a usap compatible case to the USB port on my X829, but it won't connect via USB3.0(5G). The SSD connected USB2 (480M). I checked with lsusb command, but USB port on X829 is USB2, not USB3.0. Is my X829 broken? Please help me to confirm this.
Is my x829 a later version? (JMS583 IC version?)
Below is the result of lsusb.

Hi dear ,sorry we don't get your point well ,but i think as long as the model of the product is correct, it doesn’t matter which country it is made in.by the way ,There are many Raspberry Pi fans exchange experiences on our official website, you are welcome to join us https://geek...munity/forum
For Wifi problems, have a look on the paper in user manual : File:Usb3-frequency-interference-papers.pdf
I have also the problems of wifi out of order, i make a try with X829 far away from Rpi, with a 1 meter USB3 cable... no problems anymore, wifi works... only way to resolve the problem : don't stack X829 with Rpi...
Hi dear ,Please try 5G network or wired network,By the way ,There are many Raspberry Pi fans exchange experiences on our official website, you are welcome to join us https://geek...munity/forum
Regarding the poweroff issue, it turns out the operating system has to send some signals to the X735 via the GPIO at the end of its shutdown sequence. Some SystemD service should do the trick.
Hi dear ,tks for your updata ,By the way ,There are many Raspberry Pi fans exchange experiences on our official website, you are welcome to join us https://geek...munity/forum
Hi dear ,sorry to tell this X829 board only compatible with the raspberry PI4B ,so it is not available to Rasp PI 3,By the way ,There are many Raspberry Pi fans exchange experiences on our official website, you are welcome to join us https://geek...munity/forum
I'm getting an "ext2fs_write_inode_full: Input/output error while writing reserved inodes" error when trying to format the drives when using X829 with OpenMediaVault 5. Any idea what the reason might be?
Update on this issue: Geekwork support team got in touch with me to trobleshoot the issue. The issue was with a faulty USB bridge. Tested with USB A-to-A cable and everything works fine now. Thanks Geekwork for the quick response.
Hi Cindy, if I were to increase the standoffs height to 19mm, 4mm more than the 15mm that is included, I would be able to use 15mm tall 5TB HDD, is that right? There is nothing that is stopping me from doing this, correct?
If you change the height of the spacers for HDD2, it should be able to support 15mm hard drives, you can test it. HDD1,you also need to consider the length of the usb cable
