Overview

The X1017 is a PCIe 3.0 to 8-port SATA expansion board designed specifically for the Raspberry Pi 5, providing a one-stop solution for high-capacity, high-speed storage upgrades.

It addresses two major pain points in building multi-disk storage systems with the Raspberry Pi 5:

Insufficient native storage capacity: Supports simultaneous connection of up to 8 SATA hard drives, with a maximum capacity of 22TB per drive and a total capacity of up to 176TB.

Confusing power supply for multiple hard drives: Equipped with dual 12V power input options (two standard DC power jacks and one 4-pin ATX power connector), eliminating the need for separate power supplies for the Raspberry Pi. A single power supply can easily drive the Raspberry Pi 5 and all connected SATA devices. A built-in load switch completely cuts off power to SATA devices when the system is shut down, while a high-efficiency buck converter provides a stable 5V 12A output.

Supports simultaneous access to multiple hard drives and features a SATA 3.0 interface with bandwidth up to 5Gbps, ensuring fast and stable data transfer. Suitable for building home media centers, personal NAS, closed-circuit television video storage, and personal data backup servers.
