Yes, I understand that you cannot input 5V on the 2.0 board, that was not my question.

You are basically telling me that after buying a 50$ V1.3 board that is not working as intended (plus a power supply, shipping and taxes), I should either buy new HDDs or a new 2.0 board.

I'm not really thrilled by this idea, and my goal was to know if there was a way to modify the 1.3 board to help solve the issue (I have access to some equipment and could for exemple build a power supply). I understand that this may not be possible, and even that if it is possible it would not be easy nor guaranteed to work.

But the other possibilities for me would be to either buy a 2.0 board (with no guarantee that it would be better) or some HDD (for lower performance, but i could allow that, but again how to be sure that this investment would solve the issue?), or drop the project altogether.
