Your script doesn't work. After using the xoff command the system turns off, but using the button the fan starts at maximum and the red led does not turn off. Also I point out that it is impossible to install python-smbus as it reports me that the package is missing. The script has been tested on at least 5 raspberry with your case but none seem to work.
