&lt;p&gt;&lt;b&gt;New page&lt;/b&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;div&gt;The Pi Zero 2 W DOES support boot from USB out of the box. I have tried both a USB thumbdrive and an SSD through a USB SATA adapter on an OTG-to -USB cable. All work fine. But for some reason the X301, which is essentially an OTG adapter, does not allow booting from the HDD/SSD attached.
